I recently had a publisher reach out with an issue they were having with their pop-up ad unit. The reason being that while she had been pleased with AdSense’s performance since enabling it to compete for remnant inventory, the pop-up unit was specifically meant for house ads that promoted the business, and having AdSense ads show up in these placements was off-putting.
We discovered that there is indeed a way to disable AdSense on an ad unit level, simply by overriding the setting from within the Inventory>Ad Units tab in DFP.
Once this setting has been adjusted, only line items explicitly targeting this unit will be able to serve.
